Using Queues to Automatically Publish Posts in SocialBu
Queues help you publish posts on a recurring schedule without choosing a separate date and time for every post. Instead, you create a queue, choose the social accounts and publishing slots for that queue, then add posts to it. SocialBu publishes the queue items one by one according to the queue schedule.
When should you use a queue?
Use a queue when you want posts to go out regularly at fixed weekly or monthly time slots.
Use a queue when you have evergreen content that can rotate through the same schedule.
Use a queue when you want to add posts quickly without manually selecting a publish date for each post.
Before you start
Make sure the social accounts you want to publish to are connected in SocialBu.
If you are creating a queue for a team, you need permission to create or edit queues for that team.
Queue limits depend on your plan. If your account or team has reached its queue limit, SocialBu may ask you to upgrade before creating or activating another queue.
How to create a queue
Go to Publish > Queues.
Click New Queue.
Enter a queue name.
If you are using teams, choose the team this queue belongs to.
Select the social accounts that should publish from this queue.
Add one or more publishing time slots. A queue can use weekly slots, monthly slots, or both.
Choose whether the queue should be active.
Optionally set a start date, end date, repeat count, or failure behavior.
Save the queue.
Queue schedule options
Weekly schedule: choose one or more weekdays and a publishing time.
Monthly schedule: choose one or more dates of the month and a publishing time. You can also choose specific months, or leave months unset to use all months.
Start and end dates: limit publishing to a specific date range. The start date must be before the end date.
Repeat count: choose how many times each queue item should be published. When an item reaches that count, SocialBu removes it from the queue.
Disable on failure: choose whether SocialBu should disable the queue if a queue post fails to publish.
How to add a post to a queue
Create your post from the Post Composer.
Add the caption, media, and any platform-specific options needed for the selected accounts.
Open the dropdown next to the scheduling button.
Select Save to Queue.
Choose one or more queues.
Click Save.
If no queues are available, create a queue first from Publish > Queues.
Important content rules
Queue posts are checked against the social accounts selected for the queue before they are added.
Your post must meet the publishing requirements for each selected platform. For example, platforms that require media will still require media when the post is added to a queue.
If a queue already has accounts configured, SocialBu can use those queue accounts when adding the post.
Platform-specific options such as first comment, title, thumbnail, privacy, alt text, or board selection depend on the account type.
How SocialBu chooses the next queue post
Queue items publish in queue order.
After an item publishes, SocialBu moves to the next item for the next available queue slot.
After the last item publishes, the queue starts again from the first available item.
If the queue has a start date in the future, SocialBu waits until the queue starts.
If the queue has passed its end date, SocialBu stops calculating the next publish time for that queue.
Managing queue posts
Open a queue to view the posts inside it.
Edit a queue post if you need to update its content, media, or options.
Change the order of queue posts to control which post publishes next.
Shuffle queue posts if you want to randomize the order.
Delete individual queue posts or bulk-delete multiple posts when needed.
If a repeat count is set, use cleanup when you need to remove items that have already reached the repeat count.
What happens if a queue post fails?
If a queue post cannot be published, SocialBu sends a queue failure notification. If the queue is set to disable on failure, SocialBu also turns the queue off so you can review and fix the issue before more queue posts are attempted.
Common causes include disconnected social accounts, missing required media, invalid platform options, expired permissions, or content that does not match a platform's publishing rules.
FAQs
Can I add one post to multiple queues?Yes. When saving a post to a queue, you can select one or more queues.
Can I pause a queue?Yes. Turn the queue off by changing its active status. You can turn it back on later if your plan limit allows it.
Can team queues use team accounts?Yes. Team queues use the accounts available to that team, and team permissions control who can create, edit, or add posts to the queue.
Does adding a post to a queue publish it immediately? No. The post waits in the queue and publishes at the next available queue time slot.
