Why is my card being declined?

Learn why your SocialBu card payment may fail and what you can do to fix it.

If your payment does not go through, your subscription renewal may fail and your SocialBu plan may be interrupted or downgraded. Card payments can be declined for several reasons, and the exact reason is usually shared by your bank or card issuer.

Common reasons for payment failures

  • Insufficient funds - Your account may not have enough balance to complete the payment.

  • Expired card - The card linked to your subscription may have expired.

  • Incorrect card details - The card number, expiry date, CVV, or billing address may be incorrect.

  • Card reported as lost or stolen - If your card has been reported lost or stolen, the transaction will be declined.

  • Online or international payments are disabled - Some banks block online or international transactions unless they are enabled manually.

  • Recurring payments are blocked - Your bank may not allow subscription or recurring payments on the selected card.

  • Card limit reached - Your daily, monthly, or transaction limit may have been reached.

  • Bank security checks - Your bank may block the payment due to suspected fraud or may require additional verification such as OTP or 3D Secure authentication.

Most banks and card issuers return a general "declined" message, so SocialBu may not always receive the exact reason for the failed payment.

What to do next

  • Contact your bank or card issuer to confirm why the transaction was declined.

  • Make sure online, international, and recurring payments are enabled for your card.

  • Check that your card details and billing address are correct.

  • Try the payment again after your bank confirms the issue is resolved.

  • If needed, update your payment method or try a different card from the Subscription & Billing section in your SocialBu account settings.
