You may see an Instagram permission error such as Requires instagram_content_publish permission to manage the object when Instagram has not granted SocialBu the publishing permission needed for that account.

Why it happens

This usually means the Instagram/Facebook connection was added without all required permissions, or permissions were later removed from Meta settings.

Method 1: Update SocialBu permissions in Meta

  1. Log in to the Facebook or Instagram account connected to the affected Instagram professional account.

  2. Open Meta/Facebook settings for connected apps and business integrations.

  3. Find SocialBu.

  4. Review the permissions and allow the publishing-related permissions requested by SocialBu.

  5. Return to SocialBu and try publishing again.

Method 2: Reconnect the Instagram account

  1. In SocialBu, go to Accounts.

  2. Remove the affected Instagram account from SocialBu.

  3. Click Add Account and connect it again.

  4. During the Meta login flow, grant all requested permissions.

Important: Reconnecting affects the account connection and related SocialBu data/settings for that account. It does not delete posts that are already published on Instagram.

If the error continues

Check that the Instagram account is a professional account connected to the correct Facebook Page, then contact SocialBu support with the account name and exact error message.
