Set Up an RSS Feed Automation

Step 1: Access the “Automate” feature

Log in to your account, navigate to the Automate section on the main dashboard, and click the "New Automation" button to begin the setup process.

Step 2: Name Your Automation

Enter a name for your automation, then click Next to proceed.

Step 3: Set the Trigger & Enter RSS Feed URL

From the first dropdown menu, select “RSS Feed has new item.”

This ensures the automation triggers whenever a new item is published in the specified RSS feed. Paste the RSS feed URL you want to monitor. The URL must be a valid, reachable RSS or Atom feed. Need help finding the RSS URL? Click here for guidance.

Step 4: Choose an Action & Data Placeholder(s)

Select the action to take when a new RSS item is detected. Options include:

Send an Email – Notifies selected recipients.

Publish a Social Media Post – Automatically posts to your chosen platforms.

Add Post to Queue – Adds the post to a selected SocialBu queue.

Send an HTTP Request – Triggers an external integration or webhook.

Use Data Placeholders

You can personalize your actions using data placeholders, such as the title, link, or description from the RSS feed item.

Step 5: Add Multiple Actions (Optional)

You can configure multiple actions for a single automation.

Step 6: Apply Conditions (Optional)

Add conditions to control when specific actions occur.

Example: Only publish a social media post if the RSS item contains certain keywords.

Step 7: Use Action Groups (Optional)

You can create multiple action groups, each with its own actions and conditions.

Action groups operate independently and offer more flexibility in how your automation behaves.

With RSS Feed Automation, you can streamline content sharing and maintain consistent social media engagement, all with minimal manual effort. On the first run, SocialBu may skip older existing feed items and mainly pick up new items published after setup. When multiple new RSS items are found together, publish-post actions are spaced out automatically unless you set a specific publish time.

FAQs

• Can I use multiple RSS feeds in one automation?

  No, each automation can monitor only one RSS feed. You’ll need to create separate automations for multiple feeds.

• How often does SocialBu check for new RSS items?

  It depends on the feed’s recent activity. Active feeds are checked frequently. If a feed has no new items for a while, SocialBu gradually increases the wait time between checks, up to about 2 hours.

• Can I preview the post before it’s published?

  No, RSS automation posts are published automatically once triggered, without manual preview.

• Can I post to multiple social media platforms at once?

  Yes, you can add multiple actions in one automation to post on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc., simultaneously.
