Understanding Awaiting Approval in SocialBu

Learn how SocialBu sends team posts for approval, who can approve them, and what happens after approval or rejection.

Awaiting Approval is used when a team requires content approval before publishing. If a team member creates a non-draft post and does not have approval permission, SocialBu sends the post to Publish > Awaiting Approval instead of publishing or scheduling it directly.

When posts need approval

  • The post must be created under a team that has Require approval before publishing content enabled.

  • The selected social account must belong to that team.

  • The creator must not have the Approve posts permission.

  • The post must be submitted for publishing or scheduling. Drafts stay in Drafts and do not enter Awaiting Approval.

Who can approve posts

  • Only team members with the Approve posts permission can approve or reject posts.

  • Users with approval permission see the Approve and Reject buttons on posts waiting for review.

  • Team admins can manage approval settings and permissions from team settings.

What happens after approval

When a post is approved, it continues through the normal publishing flow. If its scheduled time is still in the future, it appears with scheduled posts. If the scheduled time has already passed, SocialBu can publish it after approval.

What happens after rejection

When rejecting a post, SocialBu asks for a rejection reason. The rejected post moves back to Drafts with the rejection reason so the creator can review, edit, and submit it again.

Editing and notifications

  • The post creator can edit their own post while it is still awaiting approval.

  • Users with team post editing permission can manage editable team posts before they are published.

  • Approvers receive notifications when posts are waiting for approval.

  • The post creator is notified when a post is rejected.

  • Published posts cannot be edited from SocialBu.

FAQs

Can a post be published without approval?

No. If team approval is required and the creator does not have approval permission, the post will not publish until it is approved.

Do drafts need approval?

No. Drafts stay in Drafts. Approval applies when a team post is submitted for scheduling or publishing.

Where can I find posts waiting for approval?

Go to Publish > Awaiting Approval.
